1. Referral service — not a travel agent
True Frontier In Action is not a travel agent or tour operator and does not sell, arrange, book or take payment for travel. If you ask for help planning an aurora journey, we pass your enquiry — with your consent — to Jo Sehgal, a specialist at an ATOL-protected travel company, who contacts you directly.
Any booking you make is a contract between you and that travel company (or the relevant operator), under their terms, conditions and financial protection. True Frontier In Action takes no payment from you and is not party to your booking.
2. ATOL protection
ATOL protection, where it applies, is provided by the travel company you book with — not by True Frontier In Action. It applies only to qualifying bookings made with that company, and not to your use of this website or the TFIA Aurora app. The company will confirm the exact protection that applies to your trip before you book.
3. How we're paid
True Frontier In Action may receive a referral fee if you make a booking after an introduction. This never changes the price you pay.
4. The forecast is guidance, not a guarantee
Aurora forecasts are guidance only. The Northern Lights are natural, unpredictable and never guaranteed. The Tonight Score combines available space-weather, darkness, cloud and moon data, but conditions can change quickly and data can be delayed or incomplete.
Always make your own judgement before heading out at night — check local weather, roads, access and safety advice, dress for the cold, and do not enter unsafe or remote areas unprepared. You are responsible for your own safety.
5. The app — availability & pricing
The TFIA Aurora app's core — the forecast, the Tonight Score and basic alerts — is free, and we intend it to stay free. An optional Pro subscription adds planning and photography tools. Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically until you cancel; the Season Pass is a one-off purchase for a single season and does not auto-renew. You can manage or cancel a subscription through your app-store account, subject to its refund rules. Live data depends on third-party feeds and may occasionally be delayed, incomplete or unavailable.
6. Intellectual property
The site and app, their content, photography and branding are owned by True Frontier In Action and its contributors, or used with permission. Photography includes personal Arctic travel images by Jo and Sandy, alongside selected destination imagery. Please don't copy or reuse it without permission.
7. Acceptable use
Please use the site and app lawfully and don't attempt to disrupt, scrape at scale, or misuse them. We may withdraw access for misuse.
8. Liability
We provide the site, app and forecast "as is" and, to the extent permitted by law, are not liable for losses arising from reliance on the forecast, from third-party data, or from travel arranged by another company. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
9. Changes & governing law
We may update these Terms from time to time; the date above shows the latest version. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
